A client-centric model

Born in 2010 from the merger of Société Générale Asset Management and Crédit Agricole Asset Management, Amundi developed, from its inception, a unique industrial development model focused on its clients: retail investors, to whom we provide savings solutions, and institutional investors, to whom we offer dedicated investment solutions. Today, more than 100 million individuals and 1,000 fund distributors around the world place their confidence in us, as well as more than 1,000 institutional and corporate clients in over 30 countries.

Sustained growth

With €952 billion at 30 September 2015, our assets under management have increased by 40% in five years through a policy focusing on organic growth. From the fourth-largest European asset manager at its inception, Amundi has grown to become the No.1 in Europe in just five years and now ranks in the global Top 10*.

Sustained growth

Our diversified business model in terms of clientele, asset classes, expertise and geographical areas guarantees us a solid financial performance. This industrial model generating economies of scale, combined with a continuous effort to rein in costs over the last five years, has enabled us to maintain a cost-to-income ratio of under 55%*, one of the lowest in the asset management industry.

Targeted acquisitions and partnerships

In addition to its internal management, Amundi also draws on offerings from targeted partnerships in order to constantly provide its investor clients with the best investment solutions. In May 2012, Amundi announced the signing of a partnership with Tobam, a French management company created in 2006 which has introduced a unique quantitative approach based on seeking to maximise investment diversification. This allows us to bring to our clients Tobam’s equity expertise, based on Anti-Benchmark models. This strategic partnership has enhanced and complemented our range of so-called “New Generation”, or Smart-Beta, investment solutions.

Targeted acquisitions and partnerships

In order to extend its offering and better meet the needs of its investors, Amundi does not hesitate to carry out targeted acquisitions. This was the case for example, in 2013, when we decided to acquire Smith Breeden Associates, an American asset manager specialising in US Fixed Income management. With this acquisition, we added a US component to our bond offering, drawing on the expertise of the Smith Breeden teams who share Amundi Group’s values: long-term commitment to clients and generation of sustainable performance through a rigorous investment process and risk management.

Targeted acquisitions and partnerships

In October 2014, Amundi announced the acquisition of Bawag PSK Invest, the asset management subsidiary of Austrian bank Bawag PSK. With this acquisition, we pursue our commitment to accelerate our international development and affirm our positioning as a preferred supplier of savings solutions for retail clients around the world, notably the 1.6 million clients* of the Bawag PSK networks.

International recognition

Over and above the performance of our products and the quality of our offering, the excellence of Amundi’s investment management often reaps rewards: in 2013, Pascal Blanqué was named European CIO of the Year by the British business strategy magazine Funds Europe. This distinction rewards the growth and excellent returns achieved through strong, innovative leadership and strategic reflection resulting in investment objectives being met.

International recognition

Since its creation in 2010, Amundi has received almost 600 awards in more than 20 countries for the performance of its investment strategies. In France, Amundi won a place on the podium of the 2015 Corbeilles Mieux Vivre Votre Argent for the third consecutive year. These awards rate and reward the best financial institutions and investments. They are a genuine recognition for professionals and a guarantee of quality for investors.

International recognition

In 2014, the European Central Bank selected four asset managers, including Amundi, to assist it in the development of its asset-backed securities purchase programme. Ten months after this announcement, the ECB decided to retain just two asset managers and renewed its confidence in Amundi. Amundi was selected for its expertise in this asset class alongside NN Investment Partners (formerly ING IM).

Teams working closely with our clients

Since its creation, Amundi has always put clients at the centre of its organisation and strived to offer them investment solutions and high-quality services meeting their concerns. In order to be closer to our clients and better understand their needs, we have opened several new local subsidiaries since our creation. In five years, more than five new offices and subsidiaries have been established: Taiwan in 2013, followed by Bangkok, Amsterdam, Zurich, Mexico City and Warsaw in 2014.

Teams working closely with our clients

With the emergence of new media, information consumption patterns have changed. To better meet these new developments, Amundi ventured into social media as early as March 2012. Our goal: for everyone to find the information they need on their preferred communication channel. These new media also enable us to communicate with our clients more easily and share our financial news analyses with them on a daily basis. Our presence in the social networks has led us to be recognised as the “No.1 Asset Manager in terms of digital activity in France” by the Estives barometer, published in October 2014.

High-quality research

For some years now, we have realised that investors need more than just investment management services and performance. Amundi was therefore keen to round out its service offering by sharing the work and expertise of its research team’s analysts and economists with its clients. In October 2013, we launched the Research Center, a website dedicated to institutional investors presenting all the daily publications of our research and analysis department. Making this know-how available to the public online is a strong action, underscoring our determination to be transparent and educate the general public.

High-quality research

Since the creation of Amundi, we have invited more than 300 clients every year to attend two days of big debates on topical subjects between Amundi’s experts and key influencers. Our goal is to give each of our clients the keys to analyse current geopolitical, economic and financial issues to give them greater insight for their investment choices. The Amundi World Investment Forum is also present online via our social networks, making our round table discussions and the insights of the most influential contemporary thinkers and economic and financial analysts more readily available to a global audience. In 2015, the Amundi World Investment Forum hosted Lawrence Summers, Jean Tyrole, Francis Fukuyama and Robert Shiller.

A committed player

Since 2013, Amundi has been introducing a number of initiatives to encourage the financing of projects contributing to the energy transition. After having launched a Low Carbon index management solution with MSCI, Amundi announced in October 2014 the signing of a partnership with the EDF Group, the leader in low-carbon energy, to create a joint management company. The purpose of this one-of-a-kind partnership between an industry leader and an asset management company is to develop funds intended to finance energy transition projects.

A committed player

In 2013, Amundi was the first French management company to be certified by AFNOR for the service standards associated with its Socially Responsible Investment approach. This certification rewards the efforts implemented by Amundi and our teams since the company’s creation for the development of an SRI approach.
This certificate is awarded for a three-year period.

A committed player

In September 2014, for the occasion of the United Nations Summit held on 23 September in New York, the Portfolio Decarbonization Coalition was created by Swedish Pension Fund AP4, Amundi, UNEP-FI and the CDP. This coalition, actively promoted by AP4 CEO Mats Andersson and welcomed by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, aims to reduce the carbon footprint of institutional investors’ portfolios. In December 2015, the PDC is already overseeing the decarbonization of $630 billion in Assets Under Management, surpassing its target of $100bn.

Amundi’s IPO

Planned from its creation in 2010, Amundi’s IPO was staged on 12 November 2015. This landmark step reflects the success of the growth strategy we have been implementing for the last five years. This strategy of profitable growth, benefiting clients, employees and shareholders, will be continued. Earning our clients' confidence is our principal commitment. We also intend to earn the confidence of our shareholders.
