Our CSR Approach
Amundi firmly believes that an asset manager's responsibility extends beyond the purely financial aspect and is eager to be a driver of environmental progress and change. We strive to channel our social responsibility into tangible action in our business, corporate methods and environment through four main commitments:
Within the scope and strategy set by general management, each division adopts the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) policy and applies it to the actions, initiatives and projects of the division. Amundi's CSR committee aims to ensure the overall consistency of Amundi's CSR policy, identify priorities and steer all of our regulatory constraints.
Our CSR commitments
- Placing individual and collective development at the heart of our responsibility as an employer by encouraging employees to grow and progress, offering equal opportunities, promoting diversity, favouring quality of life in the workplace and fostering social dialogue.
- Limiting and reducing our direct environmental footprint, notably in terms of energy, paper and waste, by adopting the best eco-responsible practices throughout the company.
- Adopting a responsible procurement policy by incorporating social and environmental factors into our purchasing processes and our relations with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Affirming our role as a corporate citizen by developing our patronage actions consistently over time and encouraging our employees to join socially-committed initiatives.
- Monitoring our CO2 emissions: Measuring to better reduce
Since 2010 Amundi has been performing a Carbon Footprint® on its entire scope, France and International, so as to meet three objectives - confirming a proactive approach to improve our environmental footprint, meeting national and global challenges for the control of energy consumption and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and adapting to the requirements of the Grenelle environmental law.
- Transport, preferring alternative solutions
Amundi's carbon footprint shows that staff travelling is the primary source of CO2 emissions, with xx of total emissions. Air travel is the main responsible for CO2 emissions. Based on these findings, Amundi has defined an action programme to limit and reduce emissions caused by business trips, notably by preferring rail travel, regulating air travel and/or resorting more systematically to video conferencing.
- Responsible paper consumption
Amundi has a responsible paper policy aimed at reducing its consumption, buying responsibly and recycling used paper. Specific action plans have been defined:
• for office applications: printers automatically set to print in black & white and on both sides of the page, reduction of paper weight, use of paper from sustainably managed forests,
• for desktop publishing: development of client statement printouts on certified paper and envelopes using recycled and/or certified paper, online statements, etc.,
• for all communication documents: printouts on certified paper.
- Responsible waste management
In 2013, Amundi opted to sort waste selectively through voluntary contribution in the entire Agoram building, using collective sorting stations for paper, bottles and plastic cups, cans and other waste, ink cartridges, electrical and electronic equipment and batteries. Recyclable waste is processed by Cèdre-Elise, a “protected” workshop that employs disabled people.
Amundi is convinced that diversity is an asset and signed the Diversity Charter in 2008 so as to give concrete expression to its determination to fight discrimination and implement a diversity approach.

Our Human Resources policy combines fairness and efficiency, instilling a culture of performance at the service of the company's strategy and growth objectives.

Amundi's responsible procurement policy focuses on 4 areas:
- Promoting responsible supplier relations by adhering to the 10 principles of the Charter for Responsible Supplier Relations
This charter is comprised of 10 commitments for responsible purchasing and balanced, lasting relationships between key purchasers, SMEs and suppliers in general. The charter notably covers environmental impact, financial fairness and reduction of reciprocal dependence risks.
- Assessing our suppliers' CSR policy
The CSR assessment of our suppliers is performed by Ecovadis and covers 4 criteria: environment, social, ethics and distribution chain management. The resulting score is built into our multi-criteria grid and accounts for 10% in awarding a contract, although it is not a factor of exclusion. Our purchasers approach those suppliers not yet committed to a CSR approach so as to help them draft a plan to improve their CSR performance.
- Assessing our suppliers based on their products/offers
Amundi assesses the CSR quality of the supplier's offer (product or service) by integrating technical and specific sustainable development criteria in the terms and specifications, based on a multi-criteria analysis grid. Suppliers must demonstrate that their approach complies with eco-design principles throughout the project's life-cycle by providing supporting documents.
- Developing the use of the “protected adapted” sector (organisations employing disabled people) to meet Amundi's commitment to promote employment of disabled people.
The Human Resources department works jointly with Procurement Governance to define the budgetary commitments for each purchasing category vis-à-vis the protected sector.
At the heart of the Crédit Agricole group's strategy, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is now embodied in a participative approach that accommodates new developments, known as FReD.
FReD is a global approach intended to promote and constantly improve the group's actions in terms of CSR. Its purpose is to generalise CSR practices throughout Crédit Agricole S.A. through the commitment of all entities, while leaving each one free to set its priorities. Three sets of reference values, drawn up collectively at group level, list the major CSR topics in terms of Compliance/Client Relations, Human Resources and Environment. Each entity defines 15 action plans (5 for each list of reference values).
In 2013, Amundi continued to roll out action plans in relation with its CSR engagement, for instance by publishing an ESG report, hiring disabled people under work-study programmes, and organising systematic waste-sorting.
The average assessment of the progress made by each entity generates an index: the “FReD index”, showing the societal performance of Crédit Agricole S.A. This index impacts the variable remuneration of all the Group's top executives in the same way as operating profit, proof that CSR performance is a strategic issue.
Amundi's patronage policy
In 2013, Amundi confirmed its patronage policy in three pivotal areas: Culture, Education and Solidarity. Our long-standing commitments bear witness to our attachment to building a trusting relationship with our partners.
Working with international culture player
In 2013, Amundi celebrated the tenth anniversary of its patronage of the Académie de France in Rome, as a staunch supporter of the Villa Medici which contributes to the cultural influence of France and to enhancing the national heritage by supporting budding artists.
The Académie has three major projects: the Malraux mission for cultural activity, which enables high-quality exhibitions to be held every year; the Colbert mission, supporting the work of resident artists; and the conservation of cultural heritage, through which the Académie preserves artistic masterpieces linked to its history.
Amundi has also elected to extend its commitment to Maestro Myung-Whun Chung by supporting the Asia Philharmonic Orchestra (APO), a pan-Asian orchestra initiated and directed by the Maestro.
The APO groups together the best concert musicians in Japan, South Korea and China to foster bonds between these countries through music. This partnership shows our lasting confidence in Maestro Chung and his cultural vision.
Developing our support for education
Amundi has been committed to promoting education through different partnerships for more than six years. The source of this action was the creation in 2007 of the Bondy branch of the Radio France Choir (”Maîtrise de Radio France) with Amundi's support. We continue to support the Choir today so as to offer disadvantaged children the highest-quality musical training.
The curriculum combines traditional classes with lessons with the Choir. The Maîtrise de Bondy offers young schoolchildren singing, musical, piano and vocal technique lessons.
Another facet of Amundi's action for education is the involvement of our employees who support local initiatives, notably the Indian charity Akanksha funded jointly with our partner SBI MF in 2013.
This commitment provided one year's funding for an Akanksha educational centre in India, enabling the charity to help children in the slums of Mumbai and Pune gain access to education.
Promoting solidarity initiatives in-house
Solidarity is the third pillar of Amundi's patronage policy, notably through our long-standing support to the charity Action Contre la Faim (Action Against Hunger). Since 2004, Amundi has been helping the charity in its initiatives for vulnerable populations in the fields of nutrition, healthcare, food security, water, sanitation and hygiene.
Every year, Amundi's employees pull together for Action Contre la Faim by running in the Interco Challenge at the Parvis de la Défense near Paris, a fundraising race.
In 2013, Amundi launched the first edition of its Give a Hand programme, which aims to encourage and empower employees' personal projects in environmental, socially responsible, social and humanitarian fields by providing financial backing. In 2013, Amundi funded 12 projects ranging from starting up a sewing class in a social welfare centre in Vietnam to hiring clowns to perform in an institution for autistic children on rue Falguière in Paris.
Amundi has also been a sponsor of “Nos Quartiers ont des Talents” (Our neighbourhoods have Talent) since 2012, a charity promoting equal opportunity and helping young graduates from depressed areas to find jobs.
