Amundi increases its support to leading research initiatives on climate change mitigation and adaptation

Amundi has selected three research initiatives in 2023: EDHEC-Risk Climate Impact Institute, OS-Climate by Linux Foundation, and the MIT Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change.

Responsible investment is one of Amundi’s founding pillars and a core commitment of its development strategy. As a responsible asset manager, Amundi’s role is to deliver long-term sustainable value for all our stakeholders, by taking into account the major challenges our world and society are facing towards a just transition.

Amundi believes that research is fundamental to keep innovating in the responsible investment field, in particular the fight against climate change. For this reason, Amundi thinks it is important to support key initiatives on climate mitigation and adaptation. Amundi has therefore renewed its support to the EDHEC-Risk Climate Impact Institute and will start to support OS-Climate by the Linux Foundation as well as the MIT Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change.

Amundi has renewed its partnership with EDHEC-Risk Climate Impact Institute. Amundi has been a partner of EDHEC-Risk since 2009, and through time EDHEC-Risk has become the premier academic centre for industry-related financial research on risk and investment management, especially on ETF. In October 2022, the institute changed its focus and thus its name to EDHEC-Risk Climate Impact Institute (EDHEC-Risk Climate), reinforcing EDHEC’s commitment to helping organisations integrate sustainability risk and impact considerations. Amundi sponsors the new research chair on “Measuring and Managing Climate Risks in Investment Portfolios”. EDHEC-Risk Climate aims to become a leading academic reference point helping long-term investors manage the asset-pricing implications of climate change as well as mitigation and adaptation efforts.

OS-Climate

From 2023, Amundi will also be sponsoring OS-Climate the open data and open source analytics initiative of the Linux Foundation, which supports projects relating to the investment, risk assessment and the financial implications of climate change. Its goal is to rapidly accelerate the shift of global investment away from relatively GHG-intensive companies, technologies, and infrastructure into mitigation, resilience, and adaptation that is financially sustainable and high-impact — especially in developing countries — as well as to enable the design of better policy that effectively engages capital markets in addressing climate change.

MIT Joint Program

Amundi will also be supporting in 2023 the work of the MIT Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change which studies interactions among human and Earth systems to help decision-makers confront critical challenges in future food, water, energy, climate, air quality, human health and other areas. The mission of the MIT Joint Program is to advance a sustainable, prosperous world through actionable, scientific analysis of the complex interactions among co-evolving, interconnected global systems.
