Following the announcement of the creation of the Amundi InstituteVincent Mortier is appointed Amundi’s Group Chief Investment Officer, effective immediately, succeeding to Pascal Blanqué.

Matteo Germano, Head of Multi-Asset Investment, is appointed Deputy Chief Investment Officer.

Matteo’s former responsibilities regarding the Multi-Asset investment platform will be divided as follows:

John O’Toole is named Head of Multi-Asset Investment SolutionsFrancesco Sandrini is named Head of Multi-Asset strategies.

Vincent Mortier, Group CIO and a member of Amundi’s General Management Committee and Executive Committee

Vincent has been the Group Deputy CIO of Amundi since 2015. He is a member of the Global Management Committee, the Executive Management Committee and of several supervisory boards.

In his capacity as Deputy CIO, Vincent has been notably instrumental in anchoring ESG at the heart of the investment process across the different active investment platforms of Amundi and the establishment of a strong risk management framework. Playing also the role of Supervisor of the Group’s activities in Asia ex-Japan, he is also very much involved in developing Amundi’s businesses in this region, and played a key role in setting up the joint venture with Bank of China in particular.

He joined from Société Générale CIB where he held several positions within Equity derivatives, most recently as Chief Financial Officer of the Global Banking and Investor Solutions division since 2012. He joined the Société Générale Group strategy department in 2004 where he was in charge of overseeing SG CIB and several Central and Eastern European countries. In 2007 he became Chief of Staff to the CEO of SG CIB. He started his career at Société Générale in 1996 in internal audit.

Vincent holds an MBA from ESCP Europe Business School.

Matteo has been Global Head of Multi-Asset at Amundi as well as Chief investment Officer for Italy since 2017. He is a member of the Global Management Committee, the Executive Management Committee and of several supervisory boards.

Matteo leads the Amundi Multi-Asset platform that manages €297  billion over a wide range of investment strategies, encompassing asset allocation, stocks and fund selection. In addition, the platform offers a set of advisory services including asset liability management, asset allocation overlay, manager selection and fiduciary management. Prior to that he was Head of Global Research & Multi Asset Portfolio Management at Pioneer Investments, before becoming Head of Global Investment Solutions from 2008 to 2017. Matteo joined the UniCredit Group in 1996 covering different roles in Research, later moving to the Asset Management division to lead the Fundamental and Quantitative Research teams before assuming responsibilities for Multi-Asset strategies. Matteo started his career with Eurispes, a UK Institute for Social and Economic Research and Furman Selz.

Matteo is an Economics graduate of the University of Genova, and completed an MSc in Finance at the University of London.

John O’Toole, Head of Multi-Asset Investment Solutions

ohn has been Global Head of Multi-Asset Fund Solutions at Amundi since 2010. He joined Amundi (previously Pioneer Investments) in 2005 as Global Head of Fund Research & Manager Selection.

Prior to joining Amundi, John was a senior portfolio manager at Luxembourg-based IKANO family office for 5 years.

Previously, he worked as a fixed income portfolio manager & solutions structurer at Coutts Private Bank, London and as a fixed income portfolio manager at Legal & General Investment Management. John started his career in London as a trader within Barclays Global Treasury, before qualifying as a corporate treasurer with Legal & General Group Treasury.

John is a CFA Charter-holder, a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin with a Masters in Economics and Business Studies, and Boston University School of Management, USA.

Francesco Sandrini, Head of Multi-Asset strategies

Francesco has been overseeing the Multi-Asset Balanced, Income and Real Return expertise at Amundi since 2017. Prior to that he was Head of Multi Asset Security solutions, managing balanced, income and insurance solutions since 2012. His previous role was based in Munich, where he led the European Institutional Portfolio Management team. He had previously worked at the Pioneer Investments Dublin office where he moved in 2001 and he led the Financial Engineering Team from 2002 to 2008. Francesco joined Amundi (previously Pioneer Investments) in 1998.

A graduate in Economics from Bologna University, Francesco holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from Bocconi University of Milan (1998). In addition, he obtained a PhD in Banking and Finance at the University College Dublin in 2009.
