Amundi at Europe’s biggest pension event

Published 4 December, 2024

This year, the annual IPE Conference & Awards, went to Prague. Earlier this week, Amundi representatives joined over 300 pension funds executives from across Europe and further afield. As a main sponsor, Amundi had a prominent position in the panel discussions, a hugely popular workshop, and launched the 2024 Amundi-CREATE pension survey on Asian emerging markets and private assets.

Vincent Mortier, Group Chief Investment Officer, joined Laurent Clavel, Global Head of Multi-Asset at AXA Investment Managers, on stage to take part in a panel discussion on Responding to Global Challenges. Here they discussed the implications of the US election results on global markets and the emerging trends investors should look out for in 2025.

Then, in a workshop moderated by Sofia Santarsiero, Head of Institutional Solutions and Innovation, Vincent Mortier and Anna Rosenberg, Head of Geopolitics at Amundi Institute, explained how Amundi tracks geopolitical risk and how it can be incorporated into investment decisions. This highly popular topic well was received by a full room of pension funds.

At the awards dinner, Sandrine Rougeron, Global Head of Corporate and Corporate Pension Funds Clients, presented the award for European Pension Fund of the Year, and Dirk Auersperg, Head of Institutional Clients ETF, Indexing and Smart Beta in Germany presented the award for ESG strategy.

Launch of the 2024 Amundi Institute-CREATE survey

Tuesday’s panel sessions were launched by Amin Rajan, CEO CREATE-Research, as he presented the results of the Amundi-CREATE survey. This annual survey focuses on topical concerns for pension funds. With overall return expectations tempering, Western public markets at all-time highs and a need for portfolio growth engines, the 2024 edition examined two primary areas that have seen increased interest in recent times: private markets (illiquid assets) and Asian emerging markets. Pension funds worldwide were asked their views on their allocations, plans and predictions for these alternative sources of value.
